Asset Building Coalition (ABC)

 

The Department of Public Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Services coordinates the Asset Building Coalition (ABC), a PCCY affiliated committee. The ABC serves as the advisory body for the RuralMurals Project. The ABC regularly reports to and involves PCCY in coalitional work related to the RuralMurals Project. The RuralMurals Project annually supports six countywide youth art teams that produce public art murals in their respective communities. The project increases youth resiliency and leadership through adult mentorship, school/community bonding and art skill development.

Child Care Planning Council

 

The Child Care Planning Council provides leadership in identifying childcare needs across Mendocino County and advocates for developmentally appropriate, accessible and affordable, safe and environmentally enriched child care for all families.  The contact for the Child Care Planning Council is Anne Rosenthol at (707) 467-5143; MCOE, 2240 Eastside Road, Ukiah CA 95482.

 

Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council

 

The Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council provides oversight of juvenile justice issues that require approval by the Board of Supervisors and/or Board of Corrections action.  For information regarding the council, contact Bob McAlister at (707) 463-4271.

 

Mendocino Coast Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council (MCCAPCC)

 

The primary purpose of the MCCAPCC is to coordinate the community’s efforts to prevent and respond to child abuse.  The MCCAPCC serves as a forum for interagency cooperation and coordination in the prevention, detection, treatment, and legal processing of child abuse cases.  It also promotes public awareness, sponsors training, and facilitates community support and education for the prevention and effective intervention of child abuse and neglect.   The contact for the MCCAPCC is Carol Grass at (707) 964-5594; 528 South Main Street, Fort Bragg CA 95437.

 

Workforce Investment Board (WIB) Youth Council

The WIB Youth Council develops the portions of the local Workforce Investment Act (WIA) plan relates to WIA-eligible youth activities; recommends WIA-eligible providers of youth activities to be awarded grants or contracts on a competitive basis; conducts oversight with respect to WIA-eligible providers of youth activities and coordinates youth WIA activities in Mendocino County.  To contact the WIB Youth Council call Morgaine Colston at (707) 463-6389.
